hokkoku
Hokkoku aims, through its businesses, to support the lives, health, and prosperity of all the communities and people it deals with.
Our franchise business is managed through seven offices across Japan that recruit ramen restaurant owners, select locations for restaurants, design restaurants, and provide operational support such as startup training and ongoing training for the owners. The brand choice for each franchisee is not limited to DOSANCO. It is the franchise owner who decides what brand to be selected from the lineup, choosing for example, MISOZEN. In recent years, Hokkoku has proactively developed franchise deals not only with individual owners but also with corporate owners. Having over 400 franchises, Hokkoku is becoming Japan’s top-tier ramen restaurant franchisor.
Hokkoku operates directly managed ramen restaurants, izakaya (Japanese style bars), and other restaurants opened up under the new business projects model, thus diversifying our business. Our directly managed shops contribute not only to sales growth and profit, but also to management know-how and opportunities to experiment with new “tastes.” Moreover, one of the aims of this business structure is to establish a win-win relationship between Hokkoku and the restaurant owners through the reciprocal exchange of information and business support.
With our passion to provide the best “taste” not only through our restaurants but also directly to our customers at home, Hokkoku sells ramen and dumplings by mail order. We also supply our ramen, non-ramen products (such as seafood), and other products through a range of mail order companies.
Hokkoku, as a company always offering new style dishes to customers, places emphasis on researching and developing ramen flavors. Furthermore, we deploy new business projects not only in the ramen industry, but in other food and beverage industries as well. Currently, Hokkoku owns ramen izakaya restaurant (DOSANNKO-JYAYA ), 100% buckwheat soba izakaya (ONIYA), food court (HIYORIYA), standing bar (IZAKAYA-ICHIBA), Iberian pork shabu-shabu restaurant (GINZA-IBERIKO), Japanese-style cafe serving bread made from domestic grains (JIPANNYA), which are all directly managed by Hokkoku.
Hokkoku distributes the procured ingredients not only to its FC and directly managed shops. We are attempting to make deals directly with ingredients producers to ensure the ingredients and are making efforts in becoming an ingredients producer by ourselves. In order to assure quality and price conscious suppliers, we aim to purchase ingredients from suppliers from other countries as well. Currently, we are experimenting with garlic, corn, mango, spinach, mushroom, and strawberry and corn production in Indonesia and other countries. Our goal is to manage the entire food cycle internally, from producing ingredients to serving dishes.
As mentioned above, we aim to purchase not only domestic ingredients but also to expand our procurement business overseas. Hokkoku has experience in the international markets since the 1970s. We plan to expand our ramen business and other food and beverage service businesses internationally.
